How to kill Ghast
Deflect its fireball back with a melee hit - a reflected fireball one-shots it and earns the Return to Sender advancement. Otherwise shoot it with a bow. Fire resistance potions negate the fire damage entirely.
Behavior
Floats and fires explosive fireballs when you are within 16 blocks. Fireballs cannot break cobblestone or other high blast-resistance blocks.
Taming and breeding
Cannot be tamed or bred. (The rideable happy ghast is a separate passive mob grown from a dried ghast block.)
