Raid Farm
Advanced Different design per edition
Produces: Totems of undying, emeralds, enchanted books, redstone, glowstone, saddles
Quick answer: A raid farm triggers Bad Omen raids at a pillager outpost on purpose, funnels every wave into a kill zone and harvests the drops: totems from evokers, emeralds from everyone, and witch loot on top. It is the most loot-dense farm in the game - and one of the most complex to build.
How it works
- Kill a pillager captain (banner carrier) to get Bad Omen - since 1.21 captains drop an Ominous Bottle you drink when ready, which makes timing the farm far easier.
- Entering a village with Bad Omen starts a raid: waves of pillagers, vindicators, evokers, witches and ravagers scale with difficulty and Bad Omen level.
- Farm designs define an artificial 'village' (beds + workstations) near the outpost so raids trigger where you want, then push raid mobs into lava blades, fall damage or a trident killer.
- Raid mobs drop emeralds and enchanted books (vindicators/pillagers), totems (evokers, always 1), redstone/glowstone/gunpowder (witches) and saddles (ravagers).
Materials
- A pillager outpost with spawn-proofed surroundings
- Villager pods (2-3 villagers with beds and workstations) to anchor the raid location
- Water streams, lava, signs, ~1000 building blocks, hoppers and storage for the output
- Trident killer for AFK XP mode (optional)
Build steps
- Find a pillager outpost and flatten or slab everything around it except the spots you want captains to spawn on.
- Build the artificial village pods at the correct distance so the raid triggers at the outpost but the mobs spawn in your funnel - this distance is edition-specific, so follow a design made for your exact version.
- Drink an Ominous Bottle at the outpost, walk to the village marker to start the raid, and let the water channels deliver each wave to the kill zone.
- Kill evokers before they summon vexes - totems are the prize. Looting III multiplies the emeralds.
- Repeat: raid farms chain raids continuously once the timing is set up.
Rates
Top Java designs produce thousands of emeralds per hour plus stacks of totems. Even simple outpost farms out-earn almost any other loot source.
Tips
- Bad Omen level sets the wave count: level 5 Ominous Bottles (from higher-level captains) give the longest raids.
- Keep the villagers unreachable: one ravager in the pod ends the farm until you restock.
- Designs break between versions more than any other farm - verify the design matches your game version exactly, and note that Java and Bedrock raid spawning works completely differently.
